After being given the keys to her dorm room and the numbers of the stalls assigned to her horses - which was all she wanted to know on the short term. True, she needed to go settle in, unpack her bags and whatnot, but first she needed to see Bree and Ski. Which resulted in her finding the stables a handful of minutes later, and her horses hardly a minute after that - and not just because Nari seemed to have an excellent compass where it came to her two equine friends.
A smile easily settled on her features as she saw the bald face of her chestnut cob, grinning semi-madly. She has missed her horses - they had been sent to Italy two days before she left, and she, well, she simply had missed her horses. "Hey Bree," she muttered, patting the warm neck. She stayed a few seconds like that, caressing the warm, muscled neck before, with an apologetic last stroke, she went to the stall next to Bree. Although Bree had never flown and she didn't particularly mind that, Swarovski was another story.
Jules didn't know why, but Ski had never liked confined spaces much. These stalls were rather spacious, which she appreciated on behalf of her horse, but she could only imagine how the flight had gone. Not well was her main suspicion.
A somewhat confirmed suspicion, as she looked at the big black gelding. His oily sheen was nowhere to be seen now, replaced by sweat all over. "Oh boy," she muttered, part exclamation of surprise, part greeting to the horse. "Not a fun few days for you, huh," she mumbled on to the horse. She dropped her bag and leash on the floor, giving the horse a hopefully reassuring rub over his head. She entered the stall carefully, not sure how he would react. She was fairly sure he had been sedated for the flight, but not still. She kept on talking to him, slowly brushing her hands over his sweaty body, ever so slowly taking stock of any possible injuries. She wasn't an expert in any way, but years on a farm had taught her how to recognize problems. So far so good, though, except for the occasional soft yelp of her dog.

Demeter walked through the first barn, patting the odd horse here and there that came to their door to watch her pass, but not imposing herself on any animal that didn't seem to want to make friends. Two horses had arrived not too long ago, and even though she had settled them in herself, she just wanted to keep an eye on them, especially the black whom seemed to have no enjoyed his journey to the Academy. She laughed as the two barn cats threw themselves on the ground in front of her feet and she carefully stepped over both of them before continuing on their way. It had been made clear that the felines were here to work, not become pets, though she was sure that when the place filled up with students, the two Ragdoll cats would get treated just like that and be carried around everywhere. Stopping off in the tack room, she grabbed two clean buckets and filled them at a tap and carried them down to the stalls. Each of the stalls had self-filling water troughs, but they had currently been disabled so the vet could keep an eye on how much they were consuming. She put these into a wheel barrow along with two feed buckets full of a warm bran mash, and continued on her way toward the stalls. She frowned at the sound of a canine, knowing that dogs weren't supposed to be inside the barn. Obviously someone new who hadn't had the rules explained to them. She got closer and saw said animal lying outside the stalls she was headed toward. "Hello." She said with a warm smile as she stopped outside the black gelding's stall and looked at the girl inside. "I am assuming that you are Julietta? I am Dr Carr."

Jules started a little at the sudden voice - she hadn't exactly been paying much attention to anything but her horse. One hand placed on Swarovski's shoulder just because it was comforting to her as well, she smiled at the woman that just introduced herself as Dr. Carr. "Yes, that would be me. But please, just call me Jules," she replied, throwing a quick look over the stall door to see if Naria stayed down as she was supposed to. And, luckily, she did. She chuckled briefly, watching at her hands - 'dirty' with horse sweat and other hard-to-define substances. "I'd offer to shake hands, but they aren't exactly clean," she quipped, holding her hands up in a slight gesture of defeat.
She brushed a few straws out of his dark manes before she looked up to the woman. "Doctor? Are you the vet?" she inquired, partly out of curiosity and partly because well, she was both a little relieved and worried about the vet standing in front of the stall holding her horse. She didn't have the idea that the gelding was hurt beyond his feelings, and that she could deal with. It wouldn't be the first time she had to patch up his 'hurt feelings' after a long ride in a trailer or something similar.
After a brief silence she noticed how... Suspicious she had sounded with that question - which was not her intention. "Sorry, that sounded... Not quite like how I meant it," Jules amended, grinning a little. With a last long, almost longing stroke she let go of the horse and stepped back, a little towards the stall door and the woman - dr. Carr - in an effort to be polite and decent and whatnot. Again she threw a quick glance at her dog and then the Welsh Cob mare in the other stall - the 'pony' was watching them closely, something that didn't quite surprise Jules. She had spend so much time with Bree when she was a foal and after she was broken in that the spirited Cob on occasion acted more as a big dog than an actual horse. Not that she minded; Jules kinda liked how the mare was... Most of the time. Of course, that depended on the last time she had tried to train dressage with the mare or get her around a show jumping course... Slowly. Slow wasn't soemthing the mare understood at all, no matter what Jules tried. She had made peace with that fact, and was beneficial in the cross course, she could agree to that. Welcomed it, even.

Demeter grinned and nodded as the girl held her hands up, explaining why she wouldn't shake. "It's not a problem." She knew that hers were clean because she had washed them before walking into the barn. She nodded her head. "Yes, I'm the equine vet here." She laughed. "I helped unload these two and put them in their stalls." She pointed toward the wheelbarrow. "I'm just keeping an eye on how much they are drinking and I thought they would both enjoy a nice bran mash. Something easy to eat after their journey." She glanced down at the canine before she looked around and lowered her voice. "Just to let you know, your friend here isn't supposed to be inside. There are some horses here that don't like dogs so to keep the peace they decided that none were allowed in." She shrugged. "Too bad for the ones that don't like cats." As if on cue, the two cats meandered down to where the humans stood, one of them looking at the dog lying on the ground before she stepped forward and put her face into the canine's The young vet shook her head. "Apart from the normal fluid retention from travelling, both of your horses have a clear bill of health. As I said, I'm just keeping an eye on how much they are drinking so that I can make sure they aren't dehydrated. If they are, it's no biggie as I'll give them a shot of electrolytes."

"Good," she replied dryly, stepping out of the stall and picking up the leash and messenger bag from the floor. Jules looked up to the black horse for a moment, before grinning lightly. "Lucky you, then. I guess mister here was rather eager to get off the trailer," she explained her sudden grin. She didn't think he would have given the woman a real problem, because he wasn't mean in any way, just... Not happy in a trailer. "And thank you for the care. I have to admit, I was a little worried about them." Her smile was a little brittle at those words, because she had indeed worried a little - not because she thought the school wouldn't be able to care for her horses, but just... Well, it was just part of being a horse-owner, she guessed.
The pointed look and lowered voice were a good indication of something 'bad' to be said, and when dr. Carr started about the dog, she lowered her head a little. "My apologies. I didn't really know and frankly I went straight for the stables after I showed my face at the office," she explained, before bending down a little to caress Naria's head. "I'll keep it in mind, though. They are allowed outside near the arena and such? I could start to assure you that Naria has always been around horses and doesn't put a paw in the wrong place, but I'll stick to the rules once I know 'em." There was a twinkle of laughter in her eyes - she knew Nari and she knew she could trust her dog around horses, even strange ones, but if there were no dogs allowed around, she would keep Nari away from them. It would only work in her favor if she ever needed something, probably.
As if on cue the cats stepped in, one almost walking over Nari. The retriever growled a little, just enough to clarify that she had boundaries before she dropped her head back on her paws. "Good girl," Jules muttered under her breath to the dog - after a speech like that a dog snapping at the cat wouldn't exactly be a good example.
"And thanks again. It was a first flight for Bree," a quick gesture to the chestnut in the next stall. She paused a beat, adjusting the strap of the messenger bag a little - standing still wasn't her forte. "As for Ski... Well, he ain't too fond of trailers, so I guess the flight wasn't really fun for him." She fell silent again, knowing she was starting to rattle again. Standard behavior for her, but she wasn't too fond of it in front of virtual strangers.

Demeter shook her head. "He gave no problems at all." She replied softly, her smile actually slipping and being replaced by a small frown. "He was still too sedated to give too much problem to anyone." She picked up one of the buckets and stepping passed the girl she let herself into the gelding's stall. She pressed her lips together as she lifted the bucket out of it's holder and replaced it with the fresh one. The water in the bucket she was holding was dirty from being played with, but had hardly been touched. Exiting one stall, swapping buckets and entering the cob mare's stall she replaced the buckets, pleased that this one was half empty, but also had the look that it had half the hay net inside it. She laughed at the two animals on the floor as she exited the second stall. "Good luck in getting her to think that a growl is going to do anything." Her voice was full of laughter. "That little girl thinks she's a lion." She shrugged her shoulders. "Between you and me, I don't think that there should be any problem with dogs in the barn, but the barn managers think otherwise. Outside the barn, as long as it's not during riding lessons, she can follow you anywhere." She indicated toward the buckets of mash. "I'll leave you to take them in. Keep an eye on how much your boy is or isn't consuming. If he hasn't finished at least half that bucket by dinner, let me know."
